Robin Shepherd qualified top in the UK's premier osteopathic school nearly 20 years ago and in 1997 was one of the first to train at the Royal College of General Practitioners in the specialist treatment of Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), synonymous with ` PainPoint and trigger point therapy`. Today, he is one of only 16 certified Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (CGIMS) practitioners in the UK. Robin uses his combined osteopathic and IMS skills to great effect, having gained considerable experience working at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge in their pain clinic for a number of years. Robin is also Acting Chairman of the osteopaths regulating body, the General Osteopathic Council.

Robin works alongside his wife Jackie Shepherd who is also an osteopath and has a first degree in research pharmacology from Kings College London. Jackie has undergone extensive post graduate training in a variety of skills adjunctive to osteopathy and for many years was employed by the NHS treating patients using her osteopathic and PainPoint skills with good results.

Additional services can be offered at the PainPoint Clinic by  Dr. John Tanner  Robin has worked with John for many years at The Oving Clinic in Chichester and by combining their skills when necessary usually find the best course of treatment for patients to achieve a satisfactory recovery. John was formerly a GP who went on to train extensively in musculo-skeletal and sports medicine. He offers a broad, innovative and refreshingly successful approach to back and joint pain. His treatments are at the forefront of the latest advances available in pain relief and rehabilitation from injury. He is able to offer a range of adjuctive treatments to PainPoint therapy such as cortisone, epidural and sclerosant injections, facet joint denervation, diagnostic ultrasound to name a few.He is also trained as an osteopath.
